At Berlof & Newton, P.C., each of our criminal defense lawyers has been in practice for over fifteen years.  In addition,we can provide you with bail bond service throughout Dallas County, including suburban jails, such as Garland, Irving, Mesquite, Balch Springs, Farmers Branch, DeSoto, Richardson, and Addison… just to name a few.

Under Texas Law

Under Texas Law, an attorney can post your bail bond, so long as he is hired to represent you on the criminal case. We can do MORE for you than if you simply hire a bail bondsman.  A bondsman can only do one thing: post your bond.  In addition to posting your bond, our licensed attorneys can also represent you in court, should charges be filed against you.  Why hire a bail bondsman, when he can only do half of the job?  Our Dallas bail bond lawyer can readily assist you with your bail bonding needs, get you out of jail, and represent you in court.  Whether you’ve been charged with a felony or a misdemeanor, we can post your bond, and effect your jail release, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you’re arrested, you typically have three options if you want to be released from custody.  You can post a cash bond, a surety bond, or you can be released on your own recognizance.

As the name suggests, a cash bond requires that you post the full cash amount of the bond.  For example, if you’re being held on a $10,000 bond, you would be required to post the full $10,000, in cash, before being set free.  However, if you hire the Dallas bail bond attorney at Berlof & Newton, P.C. to represent you on your criminal case, we can post your surety bond, and get you released from jail quickly.

Personal Recognizance Bond

In some cases, we accept payment plans. Being released on your own recognizance may be a possibility, depending upon the circumstances of your case.  Usually, this outcome is obtained by posting a personal recognizance bond (P.R. bond).  In some cases, an attorney can request that a judge approve a bond for you.  Once approved, you are released from custody without the requirement of having to post bail.

Also, if a warrant has been issued for your arrest, and you’ve not been taken into custody, it may be possible to obtain a P.R. bond and have the warrant lifted without your having to be arrested. A bail bondsman can’t help you obtain a personal recognizance bond.  Rather, only a licensed attorney can assist you in this regard.  Call us at 214.699.7975, or email our Dallas bail bond attorney directly using the “Get Legal Help Now!” form in the left margin of this web page.

We can advise you as to the nature of these three options, and which one may be right for you. If no bond has yet been set on a misdemeanor case, we may also be able to assist you by posting an attorney writ bond.  If you’re arrested in a Dallas County suburb, your bond may not be set the same day you’re taken into custody.  As a result, you may have to wait a considerable period of time before a bond is set, or you may be transferred to the Dallas County Jail (i.e., Lew Sterrett Justice Center).

If you’re being held in a suburban jail, without a bond having been set, we may be able to file an attorney writ bond on your behalf.  When the bond amount is set, you can then be released, once a bail bond is posted. Attorney writ bonds can only be posted on Class A and B misdemeanor.  Attorney writ bonds cannot be posted for felony cases.
